Ri-Gaun Irrigation Deployment Project
Project Details
Description
Ri-Gaun Irrigation Deployment Project Rotary Global Grant No.: GG2459758 This project aims to strengthen water security and enhance agricultural productivity in Gangajamuna Rural Municipality, Ri-Gaun, Dhading District (Wards No. 1 and 2), through the development of a systematic, spring-based irrigation system. In the Nepal Himalaya, perennial springs are the primary sources of drinking water and small-scale irrigation, particularly in areas where piped water supply and large-scale infrastructure are limited. The protection, management, and efficient utilization of these spring sources are therefore critical for sustaining rural livelihoods. Access to reliable irrigation will significantly improve crop yields, reduce dependence on erratic rainfall, and enable farmers to transition from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture. The project will support the cultivation of high-value crops such as coffee, tea, and medicinal herbs, thereby increasing household incomes, improving food security, and promoting long-term economic resilience within the community. Project Funding Summary The Ri-Gaun Irrigation Deployment Project is being implemented with financial support under Rotary Global Grant GG2459758, generously contributed by Rotary Clubs and District partners from France, along with matching support from The Rotary Foundation.
